Vernier
35,300 inhabitants live in the town of Vernier, making it the second most populated of the Canton of Geneva.
Located on the eastern flank of the canton, Vernier is full of contrasts: while strongly residential, it nevertheless offers a lot of green spaces (Parc de la Mairie and Parc Chauvet-Lullin, among others) and agricultural areas, as well as shopping centres, many businesses (15,000 workplaces) and important industrial hubs.

The city is divided into eight districts: Vernier-village (the restaurant Au Vieux Vernier is worth the detour), Châtelaine, Balexert (the biggest shopping centre in the canton), Les Libellules, Cointrin (one of the two railway stations of the municipality is here), Les Avanchets, Aïre and Le Lignon, Gordon-Bennett and the Quartier de l’Étang (2023). Vernier offers several attractive walks, such as the Bois-des-Frères, the walk along the Rhône or a walk in the Jardins de la Mairie.
